Summer Reading 2026 at Reading at the Rock 📚☀️

Get ready for a summer full of reading, exploring, writing, and illustrating! Reading at the Rock’s Summer 2026 Reading Program runs from May 31 through July 30, and families are invited to take part in a fun 30-day activity challenge designed for kids of all ages.

This year’s theme celebrates 150 years of Colorado and 250 years of the United States, making it the perfect summer to discover new stories, learn about nature, explore Colorado, and build strong reading habits.

For a physical copy of the reading tracker, please visit the library at 950 Vindicator Dr (inside church). To download the enrollment & waiver form, click here.

How the Summer Reading Program Works

Participants will receive an exploration map with 30 activity spaces. Each day your child participates, they can mark their progress on the map. Activities can include reading, being read to, drawing, writing, illustrating, exploring outdoors, or learning something new from a book, map, or website.

Recommended daily reading times are:

Ages 0–3: 5–10 minutes
Ages 4–7: 10–20 minutes
Ages 8–14+: 20–30 minutes

Complete 30 days of activities to earn a reading medal! Kids can also earn trips to the treasure box along the way.

Activity Ideas

Families may choose from many activities, including:

Reading or being read to, drawing what you read, retelling a story, identifying first/next/last, using clay or play-dough to create something seen in Colorado, sharing facts from a nonfiction book, going on a nature walk, identifying Colorado animals and plants, finding animals that fly, swim, crawl, have fur or feathers, and watching a nature show.

These activities help children connect reading with imagination, observation, storytelling, and real-world discovery.
